It’s about to be a great day for you, our customers!

On Wednesday, June 18, we will be releasing version 2.0 of our Private Media Channel product.  The release will begin sometime between 8 PM and 10 PM Eastern time (US), and could take as much as 2 hours.  During this time, your channel will not be available.  What do you need to do to get on board with this release?  Not a thing, it is automatic – that’s one of the advantages of cloud-based software-as-a-service applications like our Private Media Channel.

To make the transition as smooth as possible, you should inform your users of the downtime window so that they are not surprised by the unavailability of your channel.  The full window is 8pm to 12pm, but is expected to last no more than 2 hours at most. 

This is the most sweeping release we have done since the initial product launch 14 months ago.  The primary feature is a completely revamped user interface for a more intuitive and efficient user experience.  We have standardized on a “Flat UI” model with all navigation on the left – no more “dashboard” and “console” screens, it’s all one with the appropriate tabs shown to each user.

 As a result, you have more options for matching the colors to your brand, there are two more sections (left hand menu and footer).  We recommend that you log in to your channel as soon as possible after the upgrade to set those colors and ensure the page color scheme both meets your brand and makes everything easily visible to the user.

Also, we begin our journey to provide you with useful analytics of your user’s engagement.  This release introduces the “Viewership” analytics report shown below.  It will be produced on-screen in an HTML table and with a click can be exported to Excel for you to massage as you please.

I have attached the release notes describing this release and the new features added.   One of the other major changes is to the Monetization model – details are in the notes, but you have several more options for charging your customers on different schedules and in different combinations.

As always, if this release schedule conflicts with something important in the calendar for your channel, please let us know ASAP and we will see if there is a way to accommodate your scheduling concerns.  Any new release also provides an opportunity for bugs to creep in, so please make sure your channel works as intended and let us know immediately if you see an issue.  Our past 6 releases have gone smoothly, so we expect this one to continue the trend, but we want to guard against over-confidence.
